This calculator provides estimated dosages for common over-the-counter medications. Tylenol and Motrin dosages are based on your child's weight, while Zyrtec dosage is based on age. Always consult with your pediatrician before giving any medication to your child.

Medication Information

Tylenol (Acetaminophen)

Used for pain relief and fever reduction.

  • Can be given every 4-6 hours as needed
  • Do not exceed 5 doses in 24 hours
  • Available in infant and children's formulations

Motrin/Advil (Ibuprofen)

Used for pain relief, fever reduction, and inflammation.

  • Can be given every 6-8 hours as needed
  • Do not exceed 4 doses in 24 hours
  • Not recommended for infants under 6 months
  • Give with food to prevent stomach upset

Zyrtec (Cetirizine)

Used for allergic reactions and symptoms.

  • Give once daily
  • Dosing is based on age:
  • Ages 2-5 years: 2.5 mg (½ tablet or 2.5 mL)
  • Ages 6-11 years: 5 mg (1 tablet or 5 mL)
  • Ages 12+ years: 10 mg (1 tablet or 10 mL)
  • Not recommended for children under 2 years
